Statistical releases relating to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The CPI measures monthly changes in the price of a 'basket' of goods and services which account for a high proportion of expenditure by metropolitan households. This 'basket' covers a wide range of goods and services, grouped into eleven categories. The CPI tracks price movements across all Australian capital cities and serves as the official measure of inflation in Australia.

Headline inflation is the total inflation, including all goods and services in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket, and is not seasonally or trend adjusted.

The CPI has transitioned from a quarterly CPI to a complete monthly measure of the CPI following the September quarter 2025 reference period.
