Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO) provides an integrated statistical service between Queensland Government agencies, and with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). We identify and review the statistical requirements of the Queensland Government, and advise the ABS on issues that inform the national statistical work program.
QGSO has assisted in promoting the national Census of Population and Housing within Queensland, by conducting a state–wide awareness campaign to encourage participation in the 2011 Census and 2006 Census.
The office's statistical coordination activities support the Government Statistician in his role as Queensland Government’s representative on the Australian Statistical Advisory Council and the State Statistical Forum.
Statistical networks and events
We coordinate statistical networks, comprising representatives from Queensland Government agencies, local government authorities and regional bodies, the ABS and other Commonwealth Government agencies, in Brisbane and throughout Queensland.
The networks provide forums for discussing statistical matters and for increasing the statistical capability of members. Statistical networks also provide a forum to coordinate centralised responses to ABS stakeholder consultations.
QGSO uses Data Smart to promote statistical events and to manage event registrations. To join a network to receive statistical information relevant to your area, please register using Data Smart.
