Bowen and Galilee Basins non–resident population projections

This report provides annual projections of the non‑resident (fly‑in/fly‑out and drive‑in/drive‑out (FIFO/DIDO)) populations for local government areas in the Bowen and Galilee Basins from 2016 to 2022. The projections are based on workforce and accommodation data collected from industry sources by Queensland Government Statistician’s Office.

The projections take into account the FIFO/DIDO construction, production and maintenance workforces of all existing resource operations and future resource projects, as well as assumptions about project timing. Up to four projection series are provided for each region, derived according to the status of projects in the development pipeline.

Please note: QGSO’s non–resident population projections are updated annually following publication of the latest non–resident population estimates. This edition, Bowen and Galilee Basins non–resident population projections, 2016 to 2022, contains projections based on non–resident population figures previously published in the Bowen Basin population report, 2015 rather than the recently released 2016 non–resident population figures. Please refer to the Bowen Basin population report, 2016 for the latest non–resident population figures for 2016.

Projections data for the Bowen Basin and Galilee Basin are also available for download in Excel format.
