This table provides additional data to supplement the Bowen Basin population report, 2018.

(a)  Boundaries are based on the 2016 edition of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS).
(b)  ‘In town’ includes populations counted in defined UCLs and non-resident workers on-shift within 5km of town. ‘Rural areas’ include populations outside of defined UCLs, including non-resident workers more than 5km from town.
(c)  UCLs with only one accommodation provider or fewer than 20 non-resident workers are aggregated in ‘other towns'.
(d)  Comprises the statistical areas level 2 (SA2s) of Bowen and Collinsville, which cover the area of former Bowen (S).
(e)  Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revised estimate.

Figures in this table have been rounded to the nearest 5; any internal discrepancies are due to rounding.
 
Explanatory notes
Data are derived from surveys conducted by QGSO and other sources. Non-resident workers include fly-in/fly-out and drive-in/drive-out (FIFO/DIDO) mining and gas industry employees and contractors, construction workers and associated subcontractors. Data are a point in time measure, based on best information available at the time of survey.
Latest ABS Estimated Resident Populations (ERPs) by LGA and UCL are available on the Population Estimates page. FTE population estimates will be updated as new ERPs become available.
