Overseas migration, Queensland (report)

The report draws on a range of statistics published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Home Affairs. It provides an overview of recent net overseas migration (NOM) in Queensland and permanent additions to Queensland’s resident population.

The report details NOM data including the contribution made by NOM to population change in Queensland, the composition of NOM in Queensland with respect to the age and sex profile, and major grouping and visa type.

The report also details the composition of permanent additions to Queensland’s resident population by migration stream and country of birth. Selected characteristics of persons granted temporary resident (skilled) visas are also included in the report.

Overseas migration, COVID-19 special edition, Queensland (report)

This edition of Overseas migration examines 2020 which was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The closure of the international border by the Australian Government from 20 March 2020 directly affected the level of international arrivals and departures from that point, and consequently net overseas migration (NOM).

The report draws on a range of statistics published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Home Affairs. It provides an overview of Queensland’s net overseas migration (NOM) for the year to 31 December 2020 highlighting key features of the age and sex profile, and major visa groupings by visa type. NOM data for all quarters in 2020 are preliminary and subject to revision.

Selected information on the characteristics of persons granted temporary resident (skilled) visas and international students in Queensland at 31 December 2020 are also reported.

Population mobility, Queensland, Census 2011 (report)

This bulletin contains information on population mobility between Queensland and other states and territories (interstate migration) in the year prior to the 2011 Census, as well as examining overseas arrivals. A range of demographic characteristics for interstate and overseas arrivals are presented including information about age, labour force status, occupation and non-school qualifications. Data in this bulletin are sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2011 Census of Population and Housing.
