The national Census provides a snapshot of all Queenslanders. Census statistics are important for funding decisions and for planning services where they are needed including housing, transport, schools and hospitals. Queensland businesses and communities use Census statistics to better respond to changes in our population.

The Census is conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics who needs the support of every Queenslander to make the 2026 Census a success. Your instructions will be delivered to your letter box from early August. You can complete your form as soon as you receive these instructions, if you know who will be home on Census night.
