Bowen Basin resource industry workforce (report)
This report provides information on workforce characteristics and place of residence of the Bowen Basin’s resource industry workforce. Data were derived from the Resource Employment Survey, conducted by Queensland Government Statistician’s Office, and other sources. The survey collected information from all resource industry companies with existing operations and projects under construction in the Bowen Basin in June 2022.
Bowen Basin population report (report)
This annual report contains non–resident population and accommodation data for the Bowen Basin, derived from data collected by Queensland Government Statistician’s Office. The focus of the Bowen Basin population report is on quantifying the number of fly‑in/fly‑out and drive‑in/drive‑out (FIFO/DIDO) workers staying in the region, and their use of commercial accommodation.
The report provides estimates of the number of non‑resident workers on‑shift in local government areas (LGAs) and selected localities in the Bowen Basin as at June 2022. It also includes full–time equivalent (FTE) population estimates, which aggregate the resident and non‑resident populations to provide a more complete indicator of demand for certain services. Additionally, the report also provides information on the supply and take‑up of commercial accommodation by non‑resident workers.
Please note: This report provides annual estimates of the resident and non‑resident populations of the region that are up to date at the time of the survey. This information is subject to change and revision over time, and users are advised to refer to the current edition rather than past editions.

Bowen and Galilee Basins non–resident population projections (report)
This report provides annual projections of the non‑resident (fly‑in/fly‑out and drive‑in/drive‑out (FIFO/DIDO)) populations for local government areas in the Bowen and Galilee Basins from 2022 to 2026. The projections are based on workforce and accommodation data collected from industry sources by Queensland Government Statistician’s Office (QGSO).
The projections take into account the FIFO/DIDO construction, production and maintenance workforces of all existing resource operations and future resource projects, as well as assumptions about project timing. Up to four projection series are provided for each region, derived according to the status of projects in the development pipeline.
Please note: This edition, Bowen and Galilee Basins non–resident population projections, 2022 to 2026, contains projections based on non–resident population figures previously published in the Bowen Basin population report, 2021 rather than the recently released 2022 non–resident population figures.
