Gladstone region population report (report)
This annual report contains non–resident population and accommodation data for the local government area (LGA) of Gladstone Regional Council (Gladstone region), derived from data collected by Queensland Government Statistician’s Office. The focus of the Gladstone region population report is on quantifying the number of fly‑in/fly‑out and drive‑in/drive‑out (FIFO/DIDO) workers staying in the region, and their use of commercial accommodation.
The report provides estimates of the number of non–resident workers on‑shift in the Gladstone region as at June 2016. This non‑resident population is also added to the resident population estimate to give a full–time equivalent (FTE) population estimate, providing a better indication of total demand for infrastructure and services in the region. The report also includes information regarding the supply and take‑up of commercial accommodation by non‑resident workers.
Please note: The Gladstone region population report will no longer be updated annually, as major resource project construction is now largely complete.
The final edition, Gladstone region population report, 2016, provides annual estimates of the resident and non‑resident populations of the region that were up to date at the time of the survey.

Gladstone region non–resident population projections (report)
These reports provide annual projections of the non‑resident (fly‑in/fly‑out and drive‑in/drive‑out (FIFO/DIDO)) population for the local government area of Gladstone (R) out to a seven year horizon. The projections are based on workforce and accommodation data collected from industry sources by Queensland Government Statistician’s Office (QGSO).
The projections take into account the FIFO/DIDO construction, production and maintenance workforces of all existing resource operations and future resource projects, as well as assumptions about project timing. Up to four projection series are provided, derived according to the status of projects in the development pipeline.
Please note: Non–resident population projections for the Gladstone region will no longer be updated annually, as major resource project construction is now largely complete.
The latest edition, Gladstone region non–resident population projections, 2016 to 2022, contains projections based on non–resident population figures previously published in the Gladstone region population report, 2015. Please refer to the Gladstone region population report, 2016 for non–resident population figures for 2016.
